I have a problem....of course.
I am using Small Business Server 2003 w/Exchange. I have setup the DNS name of the server to be domain.local, but the internet domain is domain.com. Under the AD users and computers on the exchange email tab the SMTP address is user@domain.local. They are able to send emails out through the POP3 connector, BUT the shows up on the recipeints email as user@domain.local, not user@domain.com. If I use user@domain.com as the SMTP address they cannot receive emails to Outlook (but the server receives them). When I use domain.local for the SMTP address they can recieve emails that are being sent to domain.com.
So...let me explain. Too much to explain, let me sum up:
using domain.local as the SMTP address:
--- i can send out, but the from address shows as user@domain.local.
--- i can receive when the email is sent to the address of user@domain.com.
Using domain.com as the SMTP address:
--- I can send out and the from address looks correct.
--- I can not receive to the workstation, but the server receives the email, because I see the log in the eventviewer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated with this confusing issue.
Oh, I am using an ISP and I am behind a router, so I won't need to setup an MX record on the server. And I have @domain.com in the recipeints policy address.
Thanks,
Heath
