Hello,

I am trying to find an easy installer for a Pocket PC Emulator for our Tech Support group. The only emulators that I have found on the net are for developers or gaming. We are also going to have to some training on how our software works on the PPC but it is not feasible to have to buy 15 plus PPC in order to show them.

Thanks,

I don't think there are any stand-alone ones. There's one built into Visual Studio but it's not available separately and VS costs more than buying a PDA.

Any emulator would need a licensed copy of the OS and that's not available except to the firms who make the PPCs, as far as I'm aware. It's fundamentally different to the desktop version of Windows in that many parts of it are tied to the specific hardware at a very low level.

There are companies out there that rent PCs and other office equipment, maybe you can find one that also rents PPCs.

Take a look at NSBasic. I think they have a version that runs on the computer for testing. It doesn't cost that much but you do have to know Basic to create any programs. You can also program on the device as well.

I've done a lot of programming on the device sitting in front of the TV or waiting for a doctor. Not the greatest programming environment, but it's fun and you can create almost any type of program.

Hope this helps.
