Phaser 8400 print problem

I am working on a Mac G5 running OSX and when I attempt to print on the phaser 8400b the job prints with no problem, the very next job sent to the phaser gives me pages of gibberish. I have to turn the printer off then back on to print again. I tried to reload the driver and that seemed to work for a couple of days then reverted back to its old M.O.

This is very frustrating.

The key to troubleshooting PostScript errors is determining the frequency of the error. If the error only occurs when printing one file or from one application, it is probably not an issue with the printer or driver. In this case, it is recommended to contact the application vendor for assistance in resolving the PostScript error.

PostScript errors can occur for any number of reasons. Typically, the error is generated from a problem with the:

Operating system or driver
Application
File being printed
Element within the file being printed
The first test to perform when troubleshooting a PostScript error is to print a driver test page (if in a Windows environment). Open printer properties and print a driver test page from the General tab.

If this prints without the PostScript error, it probably indicates an issue with the application or file being printed.

If this is the case, try creating a new, simple file in the application being used. If this prints, it indicates an issue with the file itself. If this does not print correctly, there might be an issue with the application itself. Open a different application and try printing a simple page from it. If this prints, contact the original application vendor for support.
