Hi,

I have an AIX 4.0 server and every morning on the screen is the following error:

"Periodic Diagnostics for ioplanar0 has detected a problem. The service request number is 811-960."

I hit enter and can log in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

I don't know if 4.0 has errpt or diag, but have you run either one of these commands to see what the problem is? The syntax for errpt is errpt -a | more to see the entire message. For diag, it is diag. Then you have to run through some self-explaining menus to diagnose the hardware that is having problems.

Thanks for the info!

I ran the diag and this is what it found:

A PROBLEM WAS DETECTED ON Mon Feb 24 09:32:14 2003 801014

The Service Request Number(s)/Probable Cause(s)
(causes are listed in descending order of probability):

811-960: Power Status register indicates the following problem:
power supply FRU: n/a 00-00
Use the SRN to determine the FRU part number.

Use Enter to continue.

Does this mean the power supply is on its way out?

Thanks,
Ken

Maybe just a short power outage. Doesn't have to be the power supply.
I wouldn't worry about it.

It does come up every morning though. Should I still not worry about it?

Thanks,
Ken

You have to take corrective action to stop it from popping up.
Go to diag -> diagnostic routines -> problem determination and test sys0
