We are using Paradox 4.5. The software and the data are both located on a Novell server.

This is the problem: After some people have been on it for a while, and others try to get on (namely myself) they get the message that the drive where the data is located (p:\pdoxdata\alumdata\)is controlled by a different pdoxusers.net that has the same drive mapping as your pdoxusers.net in the drive where the software is located (w:\software\pdox45\net).

This is how the error looks in case you didn't understand what I said above: p:\pdoxdata\alumdata controlled by a different Pdoxusers.net that has the same drive mapping as your pdoxusers.net (w:\software\pdox45\net\)

I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Thanks

Pat

Paradox is sensitive to drive letter assignments. So even if W: and P: are mapped to the exact same drive and folder, you'll get this message. All users must use the same drive letter, path, etc. If they all match exactly, it should work.

All users HAVE to share the same NET file or you will get this message. Someone in your group is not pointed at the correct NET file (probably left on the default). We ran PDox 4.x for years on a Novell server with no problems, even with different drive letters referencing the same NET file from local machines. I recommend searching the local drives of your workstations for c:\PDOXUSRS.NET (this is the default location in PdoxDOS if I remember right) - if you find it, you've found your most likely suspect for having a default set-up.

Hope this helps,
