Pathfinder question - Illustrator 10 PC

Hi, all -

This is a simplistic example of what I'm trying to do:

I'd like to cut a shape in half with a line with the result being 2 shapes and no line. I know it can be done easily on the Mac, but here on the PC it's defying discovery.

Can anyone help?
