I am new to Partner Mail, the person that handled this no longer works for our company and I have been elected to learn it.

Anyway, here is what I am trying to accomplish..

We have 4 lines; our main number and 3 roll-over lines.

We took line 4 out of the roll-over, but we can still direct dial the number for line 4. We set up an 800 number to go directly to line 4.

Now, I want any calls on line 4 to go directly to Hunt Group 1. I have setup the hunt group (#505)and verified that it is working by transferring a call to 771. I have also set up the Group Call Distribution (#206) and assigned line 4 to hunt group 1.

When I call the direct number for line 4, it just rings and rings, it never goes into the Hunt Group. I must be missing something?

Thanks!

I would say you are over thinking the problem. Why not just program line 4 to ring on the extensions you need it to ring on? Without an ASA/DXD card you won't get hunt group queueing anyway (if that's why you are trying to set it as an actual hunt group). Set line 4 to immediate ring for the extensions in question, then you'll need to decide what you want to happen to the callers if nobody answers. If you want to send it to the attendant, you'll need to set #206, hunt group 7, back to 1=assigned. If you want to send it to a seperate mailbox, that's a little more complex but can be accomplished.

Just ringing on all lines may work. But we wanted to take advantage of the hunt group so the same person doesn't end up with all of the calls.

You could have AA answer immediately with a brief message and direct the caller to press a digit, which transfers them to the hunt group.
"Thank you for calling ABC Company. For immediate assistance, please press ___ now."

Hunt group will not work from outside calls, only from intercom or transferred calls, be it an auto attendant or receptionist.
Sysconsultant's reply about using the auto attendant will work fine ,just use a selector code to transfer to 771.

· For instructions on making outside calls ring directly in a Hunt Group, see Group Call Distribution (#206).

Kudos to Memphisribs, I learned something, guess I should have read the entire manual years ago, tried it and it works like a charm !

hmm... I still can't get the Group Call Distribution (#206) to work correctly. I am guessing that the issue may be that our line 4 doesn't have AA?

I used #206 to assign line 4 to hunt group 1, but when I call directly to line 4 (from outside) it just keeps ringing...

I may have to do what sysconsultant suggested.

Ok, I've made progress with what I am trying to do. I've updated one of the selector codes (3) from the AA to transfer directly to Hunt Group 1 (771). Now, if no one in the hunt group picks up, is there a way to transfer the call to a voicemail box, or to possibly transfer it to an outside line? We have a company cell phone that we could use for this.

Thanks!!
