Hello all,

I have an old Partner ACS system and when I plug the partner mail vs 4.1 in and call the numbers it picks up in about a half a ring and says "your call is being transfed to the receptionist then it rings ext 10 which is the recep position. I tried all the ports every website had a different set of 4 ports and tried them all.

setup:
308|400ec|partner acs|partner mail vs 4.1

on partner acs it has 508 but if I do a F59 It says pacs v7

All the phone lines ar plugged into the partner acs but i will getting more lines to plug into the 400 and 308.

Also I noticed last night that if I plug a line into the 400ec and call it will ring and never answer and it wont ring on any phones in the office.

Thanks for your help

I will take a guess that the Partner ACS processor was recently changed from an old revision to an R7.

If that is true, the ports in Hunt Group 7 will need to be changed because the R7 processor has 9 ports as opposed to the 8 ports found on the older versions.

It should also be noted that, officially, the Partner Mail VS R5 is the only version of the Partner Mail VS family that will work correctly with the R7 processor, and even then, a patch needs to be loaded to the voicemail by using an R6 processor.

This might be a good time to look into either upgrading to an Avaya Partner Messaging voicemail or downgrading to the Partner Voice Messaging, depending on your requirements. Both of these voicemails will work correctly with the R7 processor right from the get-go.

Thanks for the quick response.

We just purchased the system do not know about the upgrade to v7. I'm a newbie at this so can you tell me what ports need to be set. Also so your saying the partner mail vs isnt't going to work with my v7 partner acs if it was upgraded from partner acs 508 like it says on the sticker. The voicemail when I log in says its version 4

The Partner Mail VS R4.1 voicemail system works perfectly with the Avaya Partner ACS R1 -> R6 processors. It won't work very nicely with the R7 processor. So, when it comes to a voicemail system, you might want to consider replacing the Partner Mail VS with a brand spanking new Avaya Partner Messaging R7.

I'll have to check and see which ports belong in Hunt Group #7.

Ok. I think I've figured out which ports should go into Hunt Group #7. But first, here is the link to the online install guide for the PMVS R5.

The chart I am using is on page 37 of 274.

Based on they way your modules are arranged, the ports are as follows:

|19->26||27->32||10->18||33->38|

If the voicemail has a 4 port license card inserted into one of the front slots, ports 35->38 would go into Hunt Group #7. If there is no license card or a 2 port license card there, ports 37 & 38 would be the ones.

To test my math, you can press one of the "Intercom" buttons and then each of the ports I mentioned. If the auto attendant answers, then that particular port is correct.

If my math is wrong, [sadeyes] one of the leads will chime in with the correct ports. [wink]

Thank You so much

If version 1>6 works great and on my unit i have partner acs 508 can i just flash the bios back to that? Also I think I tried those port settings and still AA instant answer. I will talk to the guy about that partner messaging just hes putting this thing together with a shoestring budget.

Thank you
Eric

The R6 and R7 are different both with hardware and software.

The only way to switch from the R7 to the R6 is to physically swap out the processor module.

It should also be noted that you cannot save an R7 configuration and transfer it to an R6 processor.
