Has anyone ever seen this error message in Paradox?

An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end.

I don't know why it's all of a sudden coming up on a computer of existing paradox programs.

Thanks,
Amy

Check whether the form you are attempting to open has a filter set. If so, the filter may be causing the underlying table to be empty.

Filters applied on a form that is then put in design mode and saved are saved with the form.

Also, see the 'error at startup' thread.

If the error is happening as you load Paradox, it may be the 'corrupted toolbar' issue.

Hi Tony,

I checked the form and it doesn't have any filters set, so I think it must be something else. This is only happening on one user's computer, so I think it must be an error associated with Paradox. I have tried totally uninstalling Paradox off that machine, and then installing a fresh copy, but that didn't take away that message. I don't quite understand the reference you made above to the 'error at startup' thread. Can you explain that to me?

Thanks,
Amy

That thread deals with the 'corrupted toolbar' issue.

You evidently get Paradox to load, though, so that isn't likely it.

If this is happening when loading Paradox, you should search & destroy all pdx_en*.cfg files on that system. These are the toolbar files, and they will be recreated when you next start Paradox.

Note that on many systems (particularly XP) there is a setting that hides files. You must uncheck this to find the toolbar files. There are likely 2 or more places where they will be located. And you should delete them all.

To be a bit more clear, maybe..

If Paradox loads *without* that message, it may not be the toolbar issue. That is, if this message only appears when attempting to open a form. However, I've only heard of that message appearing when loading Paradox; and only in association with the 'corrupted toolbar' issue.

As to the setting that hides some files, this is found in Windows Explorer.
Tools | Folder Options | View under Hidden Files. You should use the radio button for "Show hidden files and folders" before doing the search.
