Howdy once again
Looking for a little info on the panasonic ns 700
My usual poison is Alcatel & Avaya ipoffice
A customer is looking for a panasonic and it has to be new ( not secondhand ) sys with up to 30 analog sets ( only internal use )and 4 digi sets with 4 analog trunks
A supplier we have used in the past no longer sells the kxtda and is offering ns 700 instead

I believe that it would require an expansion cabinet for 2 16 port slt and 8 port digi card in the main unit
Can someone tell me if the system is licence based per user like the alcatel and avaya that im used to
Or can i use what ever cards I plug in

Does it require any memory cards
Is voicemail built in ( licence required )

Many thanks
Jd

Hi,
Firstly if you are planning on going with the 720 Expansion chassis you will require a license and also the card for the 700 to connect it to.
Let me suggest a better option, get an NS700 with 2x16 port SLT cards and 1x 4Port hybrid card and 1x6 port LCOT card. Bare in mind the NS700 has 2x Digital ports built in also,
With this set up you'd have 6 Digital extension ports and 40 Analogue extension ports and also 6 analogue trunk ports.

In terms of licensing you won't need any licensing for this set up.
For voicemail Panasonic has an inbuilt voicemail which is pretty decent, good little auto attendant etc, however there is the more advanced voicemail available. You require a license for this, can't remember if you need an SD card however, been a while since i've came across one.

Hope this helps

If you want full voicemail you need the dsp and sd card. Has 2 channels license by default and you can add if needed.

The built in svm is basic but would work for light use

Thank you very much for your replies :)
The only reason I was considering using the expansion was that the sales guy seemed to think that you could not have 2 16 port cards + the digi xtn + co line card in the same chassis

There was no mention of the option to use the hybrid card which indeed would be ideal

So if I can have
2 MCSLC 16
1 LCOT 6
1 KX-NS5170 4 Port Hybrid Extension Card (DHLC4)

That would definitely be the way to go

Thanks again folks

You can’t have 2 x 16 slc and a 4 dhlc in one cabinet as there is only 2 extension card slots

You will need the expansion 720 plus expansion card and licence

Thanks obtsystems
That's what The sales guy said too
the KXTD in my attic would have done the job no problem :-(

So it has to be an expansion cab
KX-NSF991 License
and an interconnect card on the main cab

Does the expansion ns 720 come with the card ? or would I require a card for it too

Sorry about all the questions and I appreciate you taking the time to reply
Many thanks

I would rather go with KX-NS500
This comes with Pre-installed (6 Analog trunks, 16 Analog Extensions 2 Digital extensions - 4 Digitals with XDP & License for 4 IP Extensions)all you need todo is add an SLC16 card(KX-NS5174) and you will have 32 Analog extensions(No need for Expansion cabinet). And you are done.

Atleast that is the configuration here

For Voicemail, see attachment

700 and 500 are just different regions

4 digital using xdp only if you can have two of the phones off the back of the other two phones within a certain distance between them

The 700 is the same as it comes with 2 digital ports and 4 analogue lines. Because over here we mostly use ISDN or sip pre-installed cards aren’t popular

I will agree with otoni and say
If you install the dsp card you will get 4 ip licence and it would save getting the expansion system especially if you want full voicemail. You will need poe switch or Power supplies.

Great tip
Never thought of IP phones instead of the digi
Thank You
