palettes stuck

I'm using photoshop CS2 on the latest Mac OSX, and for some reason the palettes occasionally become "stuck" – e.g. the layers palette won't let me move it, nor minimize or shut it using the red, amber and green dots at the top.

Is this a problem that can be sorted out with a patch?
