Paging from outside line to internal system?

We have the Nortel Norstar Plus system installed at our location that is connected to a T1 line. (This is about as much as I know about our system since I am new to the company)

I am wondering if it is possible to use the paging system (Feature 6 0) when calling from an outside line?

The thing I would like to do is be able to call from home or a cell and use the internal paging system just as if I was at my desk.

Does anyone know if this is possible and if so what does it take to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

yes you can do this.

You will need to set up a DISA DN

Direct inward system access (DISA)
To control access from the public or private network, you can
configure auto-answer trunks to answer with DISA. Remote
callers hear a stuttered dial tone and must then enter a COS
password. The password they enter determines what access
they are allowed in the system.
Auto-answer loop start and E&M trunks are configured to
answer with DISA by default. For DISA programming
instructions, see Ans with DISA on page 370.

Tips - You must have one E&M/DISA Trunk Cartridge to
provide DTMF receivers for every two auto-answer loop start
trunks on Loop Start or CI Trunk Cartridges.
DID and PRI trunks cannot be configured to answer with
DISA. If you want incoming DID or PRI calls to be answered
with DISA, configure the system with a DISA DN. Incoming
calls that map onto the DISA DN are then routed to a line that
has DISA.

after programming you will abe able to dial into a DID number get disa tone enter password then enter code for page

(not the simplest of systems but it will work)

alternately you can set up an ATA to a paging interface like the bogan tam-b and dial into the DID for the ATA and make the page directly.

You also must go in to Remote Access Packages and turn Remote Paging on for that Remote Package and then apply that package to your PRI.

There are also analog devices out there that will allow remote paging. You'd have to use a dedicated phone line, wire it to the page adapter, which will output to your paging amplifier. I've used valcom in the past.

Note: This will bypass the phone system entirely. It will not page over the phones, only overhead speakers.

or.. connect an ATA, or use the IATA of the Norstar then add a Bogen TAMB which will answer the ATA and route the voice to the paging amp.
But if you have Call Pilot 3.? then you have park and page as well.
