Hi I have OE 6 on a Win98SE PC - This has worked well for years, but now just yesterday I started getting the message "The host'cccc.cccc.ccc' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: ' cccc.cccc.ccc', Server: 'cccc.cccc.ccc',Protocol:pOP3, Port 110,Secure(SSL):No, Socket Error:11001, Error Number:0x800CCC0D"

At the same time I can't log onto the internet (Page not found)- When I reboot the problems go away, then later in the day, having left the broadband connection up, the problems simply reappear

There appears to be no virus & the onlt software addition I've made is to install Irfanview (viewer) - Anyone got any ideas what's going on please? [sadeyes]

This could be due to antivirus software, firewall software, proxy software, or simply lost connectivity with your ISP. Probably the most logical place to start is connectivity with your ISP.

Sorry, but problem just got worse - Now I can't run OE at all - Getting message "Unable to open OE message store ....0x8007000E' followed by 'MSOE can't be initialized...'
IE seems to work, but then goes dormant and I have to re-boot, (much the same as the case I originally reported regarding OE)
I thought I'd try copying all .dbx files to a new temporary folder then uninstall OE & re-install it, but how do I do that? - My Win98SE CD will hold very old versions!
Can you suggest anything please?

You may have more than 1 thing going on. To be safe, it would be a good idea to copy your .dbx files, just in case something gets even worse.

The next time that IE hangs, open a dos prompt and type ping www.yahoo.com If you get a response, that will mean that you connection to the internet is still working. I suspect that it will be.

Next, I would suggest a full reinstall of IE & OE which you can get at
