I have Outlook 2003 but I do not have Word 2003, so I am unable to use Wordmail. This shouldn't be a problem, as the autocorrect features in Outlook should suffice, but they do not work and I don't know why.

Under Tools, Options, Spelling, I have the "Use AutoCorrect when Word isn't the e-mail editor" checked. In the AutoCorrect Options, all of the checkboxes are checked, including "Replace text as you type.

first thing to do is double check that word wasnt mistakenly picked to be the email editor. make sure outlook is. Next, in the options, also make sure always check spelling is checked. Other than that Im not finding much that points to anything.

Yeah, Word 2003 isn't even on the system so the option to use it as the email editor is greyed out, and always check spelling is checked.

I found this in the help:

When you're using Word as your e-mail editor, AutoCorrect works on messages in HTML, Outlook Rich Text (RTF), or plain text format. When you're using the Outlook e-mail editor, AutoCorrect works on RTF or plain text messages only.

So I guess the next step is to make sure your email messages are set up as RTF or txt. HTML wont work. Does this change anything? I know that I just tried to do auto correct, and it doesnt work for me either. I guess I am ok though, cause it doesnt bother me, since I have word.
Let me know what you find.

That was it! My messages were HTML format. Odd that it doesn't work on those.

Thanks,

Steve

I also have Outlook 2003 and Word XP. Where did you read that I can't use Word as my editor?

Thanks.

I didn't read this anywhere. It is not that you can't, but that some people incur problems with using Word as the email editor. You may be fine.
