How can we get Oracle Service name for a given Host name i.e machine name? for example How can I know which oracle service name on my machine that are used to connect various oracle data base and entry of which is made in tnsname.ora file. I want to reterive this programaticaly.

I dont know if there is a programatical way to do that but, OMS can discover the nodes and databases within that node if configured properly.

If you are running in Unix, i know that you can make a shell script to accomplish such task. You can connect remotely then read the tnsnames.ora or get the listener status. Of course, security will be your issue here.. Robbie
