Does anyone know of any OPOS compatible POS software, both restaurant and retail?

Thanks

You may want to narrow down your question as OPOS covers all sorts of devices -- printers, signature capture devices, card readers, touch screens, poll displays, etc. I doubt there is a POS that covers all because even though OPOS claims to be a "standard", there are a lot of custom implementations of the standard.

Sorry-looking for compatibility with printers, pole displays, card readers, and touch screens.

Thanks

Take note that OPOS functionality has much to do with how much (or little) a particular hardware vendor has chosen to support the OPOS (now UPOS) standard.

OPOS works by having two chunks of software; a control object that the POS software talks to and a Service Object that translates Control Object commands for a specific device. Generally the hardware vendor supplies the Service Objects for the devices that they market.

Some vendors (notably Epson) have been fairly aggressive in writing Service Objects for their devices but there are still many products out there that have no or pooly written Service objects.

You should not assume that having an OPOS-compliant POS means that you can use hardware from any manufacturer.
