ole linked bmp in Crystal 9 doesn't always update 1

Hi!
I am using linked OLE images (bmp) in many of my reports. Some of my company's customers are having problems with these images, while most are not. Here is what happens:

There is an application directory with the report images that gets copied automatically from the server to a certain reports folder on an individual user's PC at the start of the VB program. The images are linked from the Crystal reports to that certain reports folder when the reports are created in Crystal. On our test machines and most customer's machines, the Crystal report, executed from the VB applicaiton, picks up whatever image is in that reports folder.

My problem is that, for some customers, these reports are not being updated in real time to the linked graphic. Instead, an old image that was previously linked to the report, is displayed.

Can anyone provide me with some possible causes to investigate?

They may not have access to the folder where the images are placed (permissions), or perhaps the folder wasn't created, or it's in an unexpected location.

You might to look at my cViewIMAGE utility that can load an image via a subreport and a COM driver. The image can be controlled via a field or formula so is always refreshed properly.

Hi! I downloaded the cViewIMAGE utility to try. After I installed it, I tried to follow the sample directions, but my Create New Connection list does not include COM connectivity as an option. I am running Crystal 9. Is there something else that I must do?
