Hopefully this hasn't been asked, but I read the first 20 pages or so and didn't see anything.
I am deploying office 2k3 and 2k7 from MSIs via GPOs. The 2k3 gpo only installs word/excel/PP, with the 2k7 gpo installing the full package. The 2k3 MSI is the same one used to install the previous full version of 2k3, but used with a transform to only install the items needed.
The problem happens when a user has an old 2k3 outlook icon and clicks it - I'm guessing that the MSI is treating this as a self-heal scenario and is "repairing" the 2k3 outlook installation. This corrupts both outlook 2k3 AND 2k7.
I have been looking for some way to disable the reinstallation of outlook 2k3 from an old icon, but I'm not having any luck. Disabling the self-heal of outlook 2k3 via registry does nothing to stop the reinstallation either.
Any help would be appreciated.
