Hi all,

I'm sure this is a quite easy "fix", but for the life of me I can't find the answer!

I simply need an incrementing number to the left of every row of data - 1, 2, 3 etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks
B.M.

Add a text box:
Control Source: =1
Running Sum: Over All

Sorry it's took so long to try this. Followed the instructions, and I am now asked to enter a parameter value for 1 when I run the report

Make sure your control source is set to
=1
(include the = sign)
and that the Running sum property for the Textbox is set to Over All.

Thanks a lot Duane & Paul!! I had been stuck in this for a long time too!
Now, just wonder if you can add anything behind the number, for example, a dot. So that it becomes 1. and 2. and 3. and so on. I tried doing <"Control Source: =1 & "."> but then every line shows "1."

By the way, can this numbering trick be done in forms as well?

At a guess Xinyin, you could have a hidden control source. Also have a text box concatinating the control source &"." - obviously this wouldn't be hidden!

Do you mean I can create another text box containing "." only and just put it right beside the number text box?

Xinyin

You would make your 1,2,3,...running sum hidden. Name it "txtSequence". Add a visible text box with a control source of:
=txtSequence & "."
