Hello, I have taken over the duty of maintaining the phone system at my company, and am having an issue. We use T7316E. Someone's mailbox became locked, so i reset the password, and its still locked. I then deleted his mailbox, and tried to re-add the mailbox, but I am getting (ext Assigned) when I put in his extension. I am pretty sure all the mailboxes are assigned the same extension as the call in extension here. Is there somewhere else I need to delete the mailbox also? Thanks.

do you know what type of voicemail system you have? NAM, Call Pilot, Flash?

If you go this phone in question and hit Ftr 981 does it ask for a password does it say Log:

If it says Log, there is no mailbox assigned, then I would verify the extension number. I would double check all extensions/mailboxes.

I agree, the old mailbox did not have his ext # programmed in that field to begin with.

Did you delete mailbox XXX via MBOX/DELETE/XXX
or did you go through the DIR until you saw his name and then deleted?

Either way you will need to go though every single mailbox until you find the culprit mailbox.

Call Pilot via laptop is your friend for this one.

I am not sure what type of voicemail system. I did fix the issue, however I do not know why.

When I first set his phone up for voicemail, I thought his Ext. was 2236 because of a sticker on the handset, however the handset would not ring for 2236(would get a busy or out of service message). I found his extension was actually be 2242 by using F*0 intercom, leading me to believe the extension was changed at some point.

He was able to get into his voicemail and everything for a week or two, until today because he was locked out.

I went into F983 and reset the password for ext 2242 which did not work, so I deleted the MBOX and tried to re-add, and thats when I made the post.

From what you guys typed, instead of searching for extension 2242 to reset the PW, I searched in directory and found his name and reset the PW( the ext. said it was 2242), and now he is able to get back into his VM. I am not sure whats going on. When I search for the extension 2236 its not valid.

or did you go through the DIR until you saw his name and then deleted?"

I thought that might be the case.

Mailbox 2242 probably had some other DN/Ext assigned.

Just go to CHANGE and painfully go through all of them by entering your lowest mailbox number first then go to the next, do not use the DIR method.

To find out type of vmail soon as you log into F983 then press 9 and note the version and we can tell you what type.

I just went through all of our extensions in F983>MBOX>CHNG. Which was 162 of them :(

All of the extensions are tied to the corresponding mailbox extension. ( extension 2249 has extension 2249). The only one that is wrong is 2242 (Because I was messing with it before and set it to our VM number, which is what you get when hitting F985)

I should probably delete that MBOX though.

CP 31.10.14.22 is my VM version

Thanks for the help guys!
