Norstar KRS lookup 2

I have a Norstar CICS 7.1 system, that originally had the standard software installed.

The memory has been wiped and now it's now missing the keycode restricting it to 4x8. I don't have access to Avaya KRS site. Is there someone who can retrieve the keycode for me, or point me to someone who can. The system id is 14085455. System version is SP: 20DIC12 NAT

I just looked up the system ID you gave and it is not in the KRS. Looks like you'll have to buy a new software card.

The system will change its system ID when a startup is performed.

The CICS holds about 7 system ID numbers so you could try doing several startups in programming until the right one comes back if you have time to play.

Curlycord, I didn't know that the CICS held only 7 system ID's. Do you know how many system ID's the MICS holds?

No....too many time we tried on MICS.

I thought it was 10 for CICS but lab rat thinks 6 or 7.

Thanks. I thought if it wasn't too many it might be possible to keep cycling the MICS to reuse a PRI Enabler in case the system ID jumped.

I believe it is possible but we need somebody with a whole lot of patience to see how many times.

However I was reminded system startup does not change ID so you need to do the downgrade trick.
Maybe it works on a CICS though.....not sure why I thought that.

Right, any software downgrade will jump the system ID. Maybe someday when I have nothing to do . . .

The problem wasn't quite what I thought it was. I purchased the system used from a vendor that took it from a working environment with 10 phones. What I didn't know is that it originally had a ver 6.1 software card, and the vendor had upgraded it to 7.1 not realizing that the 7.1 card he stuck in it was the restricted version.

When I got the system I mistakenly assumed must have had been upgraded by software key since it had 10 phones on it at one time.

I got a 6.1 SP card in it today, and it's working with all 16 stations now.

Interesting enough though, even after downgrading from the 7.1 to the 6.1 software, the system id hasn't changed.

That's good to know. A MICS isn't as forgiving on software downgrades.
