NooB Question regarding state.

Hello.. I'm setting up a media server. I'm planning to use asp for the basic structure. Here's how it's supposed to be:

-user goes to a login screen to login
-user gets taken to his account where he can upload files.
-user logs out.

Any tips on how this should be set up?.. (i.e. state.. etc.)

Explain further what you mean by 'state'. Can you be a little more specific on what you're looking for?

Oh.. sorry.. what i mean is say:
1. user logs in..
2. user starts to upload a file..
3. user changes his account password..
etc..

u see.. we have to maintain a state here.. or else after the user logs in the the server would forget who the user was.. the server has to serve up the correct pages for the user to see.

Session variables or cookies would probably be the way to go.
