I'm totally new to netware/novell. But I've got it up and going. (4.11) I've downloaded/installed the client on two differnt win2k boxes, reboot, no server listed in the logon screen, browse (click the "server" button)comes back with nothing - type the name of the netware server, nothing / can't find. Installed the client on an ME box (Millennium) reboot, the logon client sees the netware server - it list the netware server that is on my network when you browse and will allow me to login.

How is it that the logon client for 95/98/Me list the netware server and will allow me to logon, but neither of the win2k boxes with the appropriate win2k netware client installed, see / list the netware server?

Has the W2K workstations got IPX installed and assigned to the NW client? You can only connect to a NetWare 4.x server via IPX therefore you need to ensure your workstations are configured accordingly. -----------------------------------------------------

Ok, I downloaded the "client" for win2k from the Novell website. It installed the ipx/spx when it installed the client program. I have installed tcp/ip on the novell server, and i can ping it from the 2k machines, so I know that there is connectivity.

What IPX frame type are you running on your server? -----------------------------------------------------

thelad,

Ok, there's where you probably got me. I just type "load install" look under drivers lan/wan, pic my driver "network everywhere (linksys)" and let it default everything. I choose slot 2, and then choose 10base t duplex, then it ask something where I have to choose 0-4, ive been choosing random, then something else that I leave blank, I usually tab up to ip and enter and ip address, 192.168.1.97, sub 255.255.255.0, so I can ping it from my windows boxes. after making these selections, it will stop and ask me/give me a bunch of numbers, I say ok, numbers, ok, numbers, ok, numbers, whatever. Then its up and going. Like I said, i can get into it from my Me box, so it would seem that I have it set up correctly on the novell box. Is the problem with win2k? The me box can see it/login to it, win2k can't.
