i want to rid of passwords to boot the workstations running xp. i have to add user password on the workstations to connect to the win server

oh forgot to note that the winserv 2003 machine is set up
as a file server only

Why not create accounts for each PC with a known password, and setup auto-login on the xp clients using tweakui.

Why not just enforce good solid complex passwords? Nothing goog has ever come from accounts with no passwords.

I second that, go the distance setup a domain. Do it properly, that way when you have a need to expand or change it will make your life a lot easier. And plus if its a small setup you can run around with a domain admin login and feel like god compared to your lesser priveliged peons ;)
