when i installed redhat7.3 on my machine, i did not include the web server option. now i have successfully installed apache 2.0.40 but it did not create an apache user and group on the list. is it possible to manually create a user and group for the apache server? how should i do this in such a way that the newly created user is the default owner of the apache server?

in addition, how do i add a another group to an existing user, e.g. user is magician and a member of the group magician, and add the user magician to the apache group, making magician a member of the two groups?

note: my installation is not GUI-based

thanks,

[tt]useradd apache[/tt] should create the user.
To add a user to a group, you could either edit [tt]/etc/group[/tt] or use [tt]usermod -G group1,group2,group3 username[/tt]. //Daniel
