NIC Tuning

Hey All,

I'm trying to tune my Network Interface on a V490 using the ce driver to run at 100 full.

ndd works fine but when I add the following to /etc/system
set ce:ce_adv_100fdx_cap=1
set ce:ce_adv_100hdx_cap=0
set ce:ce_adv_10fdx_cap=0
set ce:ce_adv_10hdx_cap=0
set ce:ce_adv_autoneg_cap=0

I get this message on reboot...

sorry, variable 'ce_adv_100fdx_cap' is not defined in the 'ce' module
sorry, variable 'ce_adv_100hdx_cap' is not defined in the 'ce' module
sorry, variable 'ce_adv_10fdx_cap' is not defined in the 'ce' module

On researching it is recommended to put the settings in the driver.conf file. But I can't seem to find the .conf file for ce anywhere.

Any ideas? Is my sysntax correct?

You should find ce.conf in /kernel/drv/. It should have something like the following:

adv_autoneg_cap=0;
adv_1000fdx_cap=0;
adv_1000hdx_cap=0;
adv_100fdx_cap=1;
adv_100hdx_cap=0;
adv_10fdx_cap=0;
adv_10hdx_cap=0;

Sun's ce cards aren't configured via [tt]/etc/system[/tt]. Try this article...

That's just it. I don't even see ce in /kernel/drv let alone ce.conf.

I am sure I am using the ce driver too

Try creating one and pasting in an appropriately modified version of my example. My guess is that if the driver doesn't find a .conf file for it the defaults are used.

I don't have a Solaris server in front of me but the path is /kernel/drv/platform/`uname -i`/????/ce.conf

Do a find in /kernel/drv for ce.conf and you will find it. /etc/system is deprecated and no longer used.
