Good morning experts.

I am moving from a physical 3300 to MiVoice in a VMware VM. If I enter my application record ID when I spin up the new VM, as it requests, will that break licensing on the current PBX? Just want to know how much down time to expect...if I can get it spun up, and licensed, then I can start the backup and restore, and the current PBX can run until the new one is rebooted with the backup restored, and old one shut down...

Current version is 8.0 SP3 PR3
New version will be 9.1 SP1

Thanks!

Quintin

No worries, the licenses can be duplicated to the Virtual Machine
I do it all the time.

Nice! So then, if I start this, I would backup the PBX, shut it down, restore to my new VM, and then reboot, and it should work...if it doesn't, I can still power up the physical PBX?

Thanks!

be careful, if you want to use the licenses of the physical system, you will need to add to the ARID, the license to convert to virtual. you cannot use an ARID of a physical system in a viral system without adding this conversion license.

You will also need to remove any analog/TDM programming from the physical before converting to virtual. You need PN 54005366 = "Convert MiVoice Business to Virtual" to allow the ARID to support virtualization. You can order this from your dealer. Lastly, your SWA will need to be active to allow for the upgrade to 9.1 from 8.x.

@SXWizard. Thanks. Was aware of all that, and we are now ready to do the migration, except my dealer hadn't added the pn for virtual conversion to our account, and for some reason is having trouble adding it...they are on the phone with Mitel as we speak....o well, hopefully doesn't take long, and we can get this started :)
