Hi,

is it possible to move an assigned tape to another pool?

ie. I want to change the tapes containing a succesfull weekly backup into a monthly backup.

I can change the retention period using bpexpdate, but how do I move the tapes to a different pool?

Thanks in advance

Mittun

yes, it can be done through some command line manipulations but I do not reccommend doing it. for an idea on how to do it, please read the technote

Media Manager error 94: "Volume not in specified pool" - scenarios and solutions

It will take you step-by-step the procedures for unassigning from the unwanted volume pool and how to reassign it to the new volume pool.

on the console you can move expired tapes (not assigned) with this command

vmchance -p (volume pool number) -m (media id)
