Good morning all

I recently put together a new pc, using a amd 64 2800 and a gigabyte ga-k8ns motherboard.
Problem being, if the machine is in use and it freezes, it would need to be turned off at the wall. Once it is turned back on, it does not pick up the hard disks. There are 2, 40gig master 120 gig slave. If the pc is restarted again, it finds the drives.
At times, it also does not find the drives if it is started again after a long period of use.

Any suggestions?
And if this problem is solved, we can move in to the network problems...

Did you try jumpering both HD's as CS(cable select)?

Try a differant hard drive configuration, put the slave 120 in a differant place.

I have tried the jumpers and the other options and there is no change, but it seems to be doing it less and less. it is very odd. Gigabyte reccomend updating the bios and checking the radiation levels of the pc? I don't really want to update the bios to be perfectly honest.
In the bios, there is an option to set up how the hard drives are detected based on size. it is currently set to "auto", could that be a problem? Should I not set it to "large"?

Thanks guys

Have you tried to boot up on just one drive? Have you tried setting them both to Master and running one on IDE1 and the other one IDE2? Are you using 40 or 80pin cables?
