Yes, I'm a newbie to Linux.
I have Linux installed in a VMWare (3.2.0) session on a Medion MD 5275 laptop. The specific hardware is:
Pentium 4 2.2 ghz CPU
512 Mb RAM (192 allocated to the VMWare session)
6 Gb partition for Linux
ATI Mobility Radeon (LY) video with 32Mb RAM
Laptop display
The specific software:
VMWare 3.2.0 build 2230
Redhat Linux 8.0
Installed with the default "desktop" installation option
When I start up, I get some weird blue-background, green text-based dialog box screens where all I can see is the OK and Cancel button. Eventually (after 3 of these) I get to a login prompt.
Running "XFree86" at the command line fails, with the following information:
Fatal server error: Addscreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0.
Please let me know what other information you might need to help me troubleshoot this.
Thanks in advance! Leon Adato (adatole@yahoo.com)
