Here is the deal....

Brand new 9.0 SD Card running in a brand new 500 v2. I initially downgraded the SD to 8.1 because we are not yet installing 9.0 to customer locations. Upon bringing the system back up, I cannot pull a config as I just get the "Network Communications Error". This is while I am plugged directly into the LAN and WAN ports with the proper IP addresses associated with each port, 42.xx for LAN and 43.xx for WAN. I CAN get into system status, and I CAN ping the system perfectly. I have formatted and recreated the SD card via my laptop rather than Manager and that as well leads me back to this situation.

Has anyone experienced this? It is driving me nuts at this point. Ive got nothing else in my arsenal.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Well, you should be using manager to format/re-create the card..on your laptop...right?

Did you try another PC to access the system? I recently had the same issue but it was my PC and not the IPO
Disabling my NIC and re-enabling seems to work for me now.

It's only dialtone!!!

Yes, that is correct. I used manager however I did not go through the File --> Advanced --> Upgrade option. Sorry for the confusion..

I have tried another laptop. I installed Manger fresh on another laptop and had the same issue.

Maybe a bad config of some sort. Make a config using the wizard, and drop it into the system/primary folder as config.cfg and reboot (or put it onto the card using your pc and then start it backup).

Make sure that the secure communications option is not checked by going through Preference/Security/Secure Communicaitons

I am thinking that I may just have a broken control unit.

Last thing I would check its the IP Routes and Default gateways between your PC and IPO. Also try pinging your pc from the IPO using SSA

Make a factory default (reset key or DTE), then ping the default IPADDR

I have tried everything network related. Pings are perfect to the IPO from the laptop and perfect from the IPO to the laptop. All gateways and routing are perfectly fine. I will try the factory reset through the button on the IP500 at a later time.

Thanks a lot for all of the input...please continue if someones got something.

Happy Friday evening people.

I have had this and i needed to reset the security settings.
I have done this on two different systems already.
Somehow a new systems does do this sometimes.
So get a serial cable, connect and type AT-SECURITYRESTELALL
Then type the mac address (shown on screen) and you should be able to connect again.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I've experienced this on my last customer. One of the instances this will happen, is that you are trying to log in to a control unit which is your IPO manager is at lower version than it.. For example, your control unit is at ver 9 and you're trying to open the config using IPO manger ver 8.1. Network communication error box will appear. To avoid this, like you want to use ver 8.1, format you're SD card using your IPO manager ver 8.1 then recreate it using that manager. Then, create a basic configuration under basic mode. Any basic configuration will do,any. And send it to the control unit. Then after that, try to log in again to the IPO and no network communication error will appear and you're back to normal config again.

The hard reset button was unsuccessful and the issue is most definitely not related to the versions. I believe Peter is on to something though. Peter, I have never gone into an IPO via serial. When I go in, it does not appear to be functional as it just displays foreign characters. Is there something that I must do to make the seriel connection operational?

You just need to connect to it with 38400 8 N 1
Then you should be able to do this.
Garbled characters means wrong speed most of the time.
