Hi guys,

I need to backing a Netapp snapshot.
How do i specify the saveset? Is it just using "\vol\hourly.0"
Then i am i going to restore if i backing the snapshot?

Currently, i got a direct scsi connection from the netapp and one of my library SDLT drive, I wish to use this drive for both ndmp and normal backup, is this possible?

Thanks :)

I think the save set is ok - i never backed up a screenshot so far.

As you must specify whether the drive is either an NDMP drive or not, you can not use the drive without reconfiguration. Also, you have to change the installation every time, as only the filer OR the NW server can control the device. So this is not a good idea.

Also, in the Backup Command attribute you must specify "nsrndmp_save" with the -T option. BTW, what version of Legato are you using?

I had been using ndmp to back up our filers for the past 2 years before switching to BakBone.. I would back up our nightly.0 backup. I used the following options:

nsrndmp_save -T dump
HIST=y
UPDATE=y
DIRECT=y
EXTRACT_ACL=y

The only problem we have had is that you cannot restore a snapshot. You can restore all your data to the .snapshot directories, but the netapp wont recognize it and will overwrite it.
