I need to know how to create a 'filled-in form' type of effect...where the blank underlined parts of the question are 'filled-in' with answers [another font, ie. TNR italic--the questions are in Arial]

I can get the underline to work in front of the answer, but haven't been able to add underlined spaces or tabs after the answer, to center it in the blank, yet. I've tried underlining with no luck...I've pasted inline lines for the form blank, but of course then I can't type over it. I tried to copy and paste a sample from Word but it didn't work...

Of course, I can paste inline lines in the text and add lots of little text boxes over them for the answers...but I've got to make it fairly for others to edit and maintain on an ongoing basis...

Help me please...thank you.

Thanks...those weren't really of any help...

I posted this message there as well:

'I was hoping for a not-so rube goldberg fix--this piece has to be edited by PM novices...you can't type on either an underscore or pasted inline graphic [line]--I know, because I tried it all. And the underline function wouldn't show up past the actual text...

Actually, I stumbled upon a not too bad fix myself...I knew that underlined spaces would show up if they were followed by some text character...so I placed a period at the end of the underlined text/spaces and changed the color of the period to paper...This way I get inline text, centered on an underline that includes spaces, and no one can see the end character! If anyone can think of something a little more elegant let me know...otherwise, it looks just like a completed form!'

Thanks anyway...

Hi,

If I understand your question correct, you want to have a certain kind of stroke to make clear to people that, after a certain word they can type some text, and when they type the text on the specific place the marking disappears.

I would handlle it as follows.
type your word
then insert a tab
use type>Indents and tabs
change the place of the tab
with the tab still selected click on Leader and choose one of the leader possibilities.
Then make a hard return in your text file and you will see that the space between the tab is filled with the leader you choosed.
When you type text between the word and the tab the Leader will disappear
Name: <tab> <Hard Return>

Hope I made myself clear and that this solves your problem

What I am trying to do, actually, is a mock-up of a completed form:

'Question ______answer_____' [with the line continuing under answer].

What PM does is '_____answer ' if there is no text at the end of the line...for some reason, even using tabs with leaders, the line/leader won't show up if there isn't a character placed at the tab. The only workaround I've found is to place a character, ie. a period at the end and change the color of the character to 'paper.'

I guess I'll go with my ginned-up workaround...thanks to all anyway.
