We got in a few Micron PII 450 units a little less than a year ago. In order to get all the doo-dads (ie NIC, Sound card, etc.) in, the consultant we hired disabled the parallel port on each of the machines. At the time, it wouldn't have been a problem, since we use network printers. Well, now we just purchased an external CD-burner, and it's a parallel port model. I can't for the life of me figure out how to enable the parallel port in this OS. HELP!
Thanks in advance,
Depends how it was done.

Check the BIOS to see whether it has been disabled or the IO has been changed from standard (Load optimal settings if unsure).
Check Device Manager to see if that has "Disabled in this hardware profile" set. Does it even exist in there or was is removed and is now languishing in Other Devices? If so remove it from there and refresh.
Finally it could be disbaled in the registry.
Check local_machine\enum\bios\pnp0400. If this does not exist it has been removed from the registry or had its numbers changed. In which case play with the registry to your hearts content... if you REALLY want to.
