I tried to figure out how to take off the confirm dialog when you try to open an exe off a network share, but in doing so, now no .exe want to open it will just ask me what program i want to open this file with.

What i did that screwed it up was:

1. Opened up C: drive.
2. Went to Tools > Folder Options
3. Advanced

But since i couldn't find a .exe extension in that list so that i can disable the dialog box, i just added one, and in doing so it screwed up the whole system.

Is there any way to fix this?

I tried to do that but i don't even see that entry in there.

Perhaps you didn't put it where you think. Have you "searched" for it?

boot with the xp cd and use the recovery console

If none of your programs are loading check this Registry Key.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command
If this registry setting is anything other than "%1" %*" (with quotation marks) that could be your problem.

Just to be safe backup any key before making changes (use the Export function from the drop down menu).
