Do NCP500 systems come with built in, pre-activated IP extn licenses? We have this system already installed with around 8 digital extentions however, now need to install a single IP extension. Will we need to purchase an IP license with the phone or does the system already have a small number built in?

You need to purchase a DSP card which come with some IP PT licenses built-in.

As far as I am aware it already has one installed - can you tell me how I'd check?

Go to Slot/Activaion Key and check if you have any IP PT licenses.

If u got an DSP card in it it has 4 IP Ch and 8 IP PT
Its onbaord installed for you

Thank you both. Unfortunately the original installer has changed (and not passed on) the INSTALLER level password so I can't check at the moment. Apparently, I can turn off the system, remove the SD Card and read the password from there. Can anyone confirm that this is the case rather than having to factory reset and completely reconfigure?

Thanks again.

Get out the SD Card - get the DBSYS
There u can extract the INSTALLER pass

if u need help PM me

OK, I have the DBSYS file - any ideas what I'm looking for. Sorry, I can't see how to PM you.

Excellent, thank you! I'm guessing from the screenshot below that there are 8 licenses available? Or am I reading this wrong?

Great, now the big question! If I bought a KX-NT551 handset, how straight forward is the installation and programming? Are there are any guides you know of (I have the NCP500 manuals) specifically for installing/programming new IP phones?

1> upgrade if needed to V8.0101
2> Drag / drop v-ipext32 to slot
3> enter an nice extension
4> make sure your phone system is in your network of the NT phone
5> pres IP registration and set on the phone ( if needed set IP static to phone if powerd on and press enter to setup )
6> make your buttons as normal ext ect ect..

make sure to backup anny OGM files ext ( disa's ) be4 upgrade...

Ok, I have a KX-NT551 phone and have done everything except upgrade to v8 (currently on v5) and registration executing is as far as I get. Phone displays unregistered. Have I missed anything...is upgrading to v8 necessary to register this phone?

Thanks again for your help so far, it is much appreciated.

Ok, I think I've answered my own question - series 5 phones need at least v7 firmware. I have both v7.1.1.6 and v8.0.1.21 but can't track down upgrade instructions.

Edit:

Code:
To update system files and reset the PBX
1. From the Utility menu, point to System Reset and then click Reset by the Command.
2. Click SD Backup to back up the current system data to the SD memory card before proceeding.
Select this if you intend to use the current system data unchanged after reset.

The second screen will be displayed. A list of matching files found on the SD memory card, with dates and
times, is shown at the top.

3. Select whether to replace the DBSYS/DMSYS/DGSYS and PBMPR/PMMPR/PGMPR files or not.

4. Click OK to reset the PBX.
      Several confirmation screens later...

After resetting the PBX with this command, it is necessary to reconnect to the PBX to continue programming.

Does this process automatically restore the current config or will I then need to manually restore it?

Is it OK to remove the SD card while the system is powered on? I seem to remember reading somewhere in one of the manuals that this is not advised.

Just checking versions of firmware before messing up!

Checking the DBSYS file within the v8 PRIVATE folder, I see the IPCMPR version 8.000t by going to Slot>Summary, at the bottom of the screen I see Type: NCP1000, Version 007-000 and Region 000-000. In Help>About I get GUI: v8.0.1.21 and the same for API.

However, I also have a v7 firmware with IPCMPR v7.110n and Type: NCP500, Version & Region: 006-000. Help>About lists GUI & API as v7.1.1.6

Is this the correct way to check versions? And, do the NCP500 & 1000 use the same firmware? The reason I'm unsure is that the Maintenance Console I'm using lists v8.0.1.21 as the highest level and will presumably upgrade my existing DBSYS to that version?
