About 15 years ago, this place I worked at had a [Music] button setup on every station. When activated, music would come over the speakerphone and be interupted when a call comes in. It played the hold music.

I didn't think much of it until I've started working in this huge metal building that doesn't seem to let broadcast radio waves into the building.

Just curious if one could setup DN or something that multiple people could connect to to hear a particular music port? Can you have more than one music port on a Universal Trunk card?

You would have to assing a key that has the Music route DN.
You would also have to look into TGAR as well.

Better to buy a radio if at all possible.

This is not a thing you want to do in bulk.
Large PBX's dont have this feature for a reason.

If i am not mistaken you have 30 or 32 conference paths on your conference card. Each person that calls into the music route will eat one of those paths. The swith uses those confrence paths for simple things like dial tone so if you eat up all of those paths then you start killing things like dial tone or music on hold.

Key systems have limited exposure to overusage so its easier to build in features like background music.

Nortel recommends a seperate Conference card be installed for Music on Hold for that same reason. Use your PC, unless your IS people are retentive.

eroberts9,

Makes sense, it was a pretty small system that I saw it on.

Maybe I'll just see if I can whip up a passive repeater for the broadcast bands to see if that helps. Ya, I'll do that in my spare time.
