Is there a way for multiple users that can edit 2007 Excel files at the same time in Sharepoint Services 3.0 version. I want to be able to have 2 users edit the same excel file at the same time. One user will be makeing changes on a certain area of an excel report while another user will be making changes to different area of the report.

The model for document management is check-out/edit/check-in (or round-robin review). WSS is not set up for multiple concurrent user edits.

When a user opens a document for edit, they are actually working on a local copy. That's the copy you see that begins with a tilde (~) in the drafts folder. When they save, the temp copy is named as the "real" document and returned to the library. So you can see there'd be no way to have more than one person work on the "same" document.

If the areas are different, i.e. different worksheets, you could split them out to separate .xls files and recombine them when the changes are complete.
