I'm in the market to buy an upgrade for MS Office. As I live in sweden the safe way would be to buy an upgrade for the swedish version from a swedish retailer. But as I look around you can buy the english upgrade for about half the price if you buy it from the U.S.

The question is, will an upgrade for the english version bought from the U.S. work with my swedish version or is that a no go?

P.S
I'm actually upgrading Office 2004 Mac to Office 2008 Mac but I'm guessing if it works in windows it'll work for mac and vice versa.
Also, I realize that if it works the upgraded office will be in english.

I think that the result will not be in english but in sweglish! This assuming that no errors are flagged during the upgrade.

In my country, the price ratio of a full office vs. upgrade is approximately 3:2. If this is the same in Sweden, then you should be able to buy a full office in English much cheaper than an upgrade in Swedish. It will be a clean install, with none of the usual upgrade headaches.

Good luck,
Engin

Thank you etarhan! Maybe upgrading with the english version would've worked, but you're right. The U.S. full version doesn't cost much more than the U.S. upgrade and they're both cheaper than buying any version in Sweden.

I'll recommend the full version for my boss to avoid any hassle :)
