does the fiber connection matter on the 6 port fiber card,
starting from the bottom up or vise versa, for the 12x0.
thanks

Yes, it does matter. The Physical connection of the hardware is the simplest part. Afterwards, it must be programmed.

technically it does not matter. however if you wish to stay with default programming and number, plut TM starting from top of fiber card and SM from the bottom up.

Of course it matters... If he were to plug in just anywhere, (i.e. the second fiber card,) it would not work at all.

Why would you say "technically it does not matter"? Just because it works, doesn't mean it's right.
That is why there is so many bad installations out there.
There is a reason why Nortel say's to start with trunks from the top down, stations from the bottom up.
I don't care if it works or not, you should do it right.

HEAR, HEAR Galfaro!!!!

I have run into so many existing systems that look like they setup by an electrician or school janitor. There is a proper way to setup the KSU and it's modules so that the next tech
who has to work on the system or add to it, has an easier and efficient task ahead of them.

There is right and wrong way to do things, and even if it does work by putting the module on wherever you feel like it, there is a standard that a good technician will follow to make it easier for themselves and anyone else who has to work on the system.

Sounds like some body needs to lighten up. We should not be calling names on this sight. We should not be judging peoples technicle skills. This sight is to help people not to condem them. Rusty nails did state a fact mabe he should not have for a non technical user. But it is a fact. He also went on to explain the right answer to the question. He did not suggest that the install be performed improperly and utimalty gave good direction. I no many techs who suck and some who are O.K. and some who are great. But I put up with all of them. Please no name calling and don't take thing so personally. Lets just help and respect each other. Sincerely

thephoneboy,

I believe the reason some users are a bit touchy is that there are many unqualified users on this board who think posting a thread will solve/fix their issue without having to call on a qualified professional. It makes people who do this for a living, and do it well, think like their knowledge is something that can be explained in a two sentence thread. Non technical users should be clear and somewhat humble in their"urgent" requests..

Actually Bkrike, it actually does work but it really throws off the numbering plan for trunks (did it by accident on first install) but like you said works and works right are two different things. keeping in sequence and logical is of prime importance.

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

-What I was refering to (the explanation has been removed by admins redaction) is that 2 slots on the second fiber card are reserved for companion. Hence, plugging a 12X0 in "anywhere," would render it useless.
