Just installed a Modular Messaging System. This may be a dumb question, but any assistance would be appreciated.

Can someone explain how to transfer callers directly to a Modular Messaging mailbox without ringing the PBX extension?

It was an S8700.

The answer was:

Press transfer
dial the MM hunt group number
press *, #, #, desired extension
release call

There is a better way, but it may not apply to your situation. In a situation where you have the bridged appearance of someone else's phone on your desk (secretary and VP, for example), the secretary could answer the bridged appearance, and then transfer into voicemail by hitting transfer, the feature access code for transfer into voicemail, and then hangup. I think this only works with T1/QSIG integrations.

If you aren't answering on a bridged appearance, your solution is about the only way.

I've got a better way. Set up a Caller App to be your special "messaging" application.

This will allow you to send callers directly to someone's mailbox by dialing the "messaging" number, then when it answers, you dial the mailbox number then release.

Are you familiar with Caller Apps?
