I was recently hired to do IT for a company. They have a Mitel SX 2000 phone system with no paperwork or instruction book. I called the company and they can't help me. I need someone to give me help in getting around inside the program. I got the technician guide but this Mitel has a gui and is all menu driven. I have 18 years of Avaya background but can't get around in this one. Any and all help is appreciated!!!

Your working with a gui that is closer to 30 years old.
Ctrl-W = Wakeup - Login - Refresh
Crtl-Q = Quit
Esc + Menu option invokes option
To tell the truth, unless you're familiar with Mitel, you probably won't get far.
You can do serious damage poking around unless you're careful

What vintage of SX2000 we talking about? What colour are the cabinets? Black or light grey? To be truthful don't really have time to teach someone how to program a SX2000. Suggest you search online for a set of manuals.
I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Cabinets are cream with a blue handle that says SX 2000. I know it is an inconvenience but here is the reason. I called Mitel and they said they can't help me as they don't have anyone who knows this system anymore. I called several Mitel vendors in the area and they also can't help me on the phone. One says they will come for $250/hr but are not that familiar with this model. I don't need someone who is going to charge me that to come and spend 40 hours, like I have just done, to see what can be done.
I just need to change the time, change the password, and change the name attached to a existing phone. I don't think this is a tall order.
The back button for this system appears to be ESC Q. I tried CTRL key with several other keys and it does not respond. Any help to do the above is a start until we can get a new system in here. I am trying to get them to budget for it but the number of users/phones is cost prohibitive at the moment.
I know you all are busy, I really need the help. Oh, and don't get me started with geek jokes.

Where are you located? The knowledge you need is way too much for this forum. There are many competent techs that can help you but the product is not supported by Mitel any longer.
Do you have the INSTALLER password? Without that you are going to have an almost impossible situation.

Access to the forms is only about a tenth of the information you need. Be vey careful once you are in the forms because you can delete an instance of important information that you will not be able to restore.
The time amd date can be changed from the MAINTENACE command line. After you log on enter ESC6 to get to the command line.
type TIME....the system will return the current time. To change simply type the time in the format that is displayed and ENTER
the date is similar.....type DATE the system will respond with the current date....type the new date using the displayed format and enter.
An ESC1 will log you off.
You should really try to get a set of manuals from the internet. The last issue of manuals was about 4 volumes of 3 ring binders.

I would first of all make a backup of the database, it is called a Data Save. You can find step by step procedure on the technicians handbook. What release of software have you got?
Do a WHERE command and this will tell you the release version
To change the date:
DATE <yyyy-mmm-dd>
Sets the system date. Example entry:
DATE 1999-AUG-04
To change the time:
TIme <hh:mm:ss> AM/PM
Sets the system time. Example entry:
TI 11:30:45 AM
Do an effort and replace the PBX with the new Mitel 3300.
