Mitel SX-200 Dial by Name Problem

Hello everyone!

I'm having some issues with a Mitel SX-200 that I've taken over administration of recently. When a caller places a call into the system and the auto attendant picks up, the caller has the option to dial the extension they are trying to reach or press "9" to dial by a name directory. When "9" is pressed and you spell "John" (by pressing 5646) there are 3 results returned. Option 1 and 3 are correct, both of these extensions are someone names John. Option 2 however is someone named Tim. If you dial 846 in the directory, Tim is the only option. Pressing 2 for the "John" results sends you to Tim's correct extension.

I've deleted the voice mail box (by using the Admin mailbox feature) and recreated it. I've deleted the phone setup (by Hyper Terming in and using Form 09) and recreated. I've removed both and although the name "John" is no longer spoken as option 2, the extension is still given.

I can't figure out where to change this dial by name or at worst case delete it. I do know that at some point Tim's extension was indeed used by someone with the name of John, however that has been awhile ago now.

Can anyone point me in a direction here to fix this? It's become frustrating at the least.

Thanks!

Pandabear1,

I think you replied to my same post on another forum ;) ... But I don't have a Forms 50, it only goes to 48.

Thanks

which SX200 do you have?
Do you have Mitel Express Mail?
If you have MEM you can access with Mitel Express Manager or do it thru the TUI.
This is why it is always good to tell us exactly what switch, vmail and release you are asking about.

pandabear1,

I'm not totally sure of the exact model other then I do know it's an analog system. Has Superset 4025 phone's. The voice mail is Express Messenger. We're edited, removed, and added the mailbox through the TUI several times. Hasn't seem to do much other remove the name from when the auto attendant goes through the list. Instead of saying Tim for option 2, it just says the extension.

Thanks

if I am understanding you correctly when you access that mailbox by pressing 2 throught the auto attendant and you just get the extension number then when the mailbox was initialized the name part of the initialization was not recorded.
This would be much easier on you if you get Express Manager software.

When there is a voice mail box with a recorded name and the name entered by the dial pad, when a caller access the dial by name portion and enters "John", the second person that is returned is "Tim". Selecting this option takes you to Tim's ext. If I remove the voice mail box all together, the auto attendant still presents Tim's ext as option 2, but rather then stating Tim's name, all it says is the ext number (ie 2025).

I don't have the software, from my understanding it's never been used and is probably long gone.

Thanks

using the admin mailbox again, enter more of tim's name. (include the 1st 3 char of his last name.

846??? will then be entered as tims name. it will still match on 846.
