One our locations was upgraded from multimode to single mode fiber. So we need a mini GBIC for our switches to move over to the new connection. I am looking at the CDWG website and they list an "Extreme Networks compatible" module by Advantage Optics. Has anyone ever used these and are they reliable or should I stick with the Extreme brand? Cost difference is considerable.

I've used over 30 Prologic equivalent GBIC's and XenPaks in my Extreme estate for over three years without any failures or issues. - Lifetime warranty and much, much cheaper

Thanks for your opinion. I'm new to the equipment and component buying experience.

Extreme documentation will tell you to use only Extreme GBICs, but insider info from Extreme employees and trainers says you can use any compatible GBIC - I'm sure you'll be fine.
