if a new install, and I renumber exts to start with 401, is "9" avail for line pool access (without further changes) or is "9" the start of other feature. did I miss what consequences are when renumbering in the manual?

Yes, 9 should still be available. If you're having trouble, check the b2 dn's of your extensions. If there are any in the 900's, you'll have to change them to make 9 available.

If you use a Start DN of 401, your Hunt Groups are 867 to 916, hence 9 is not available. You should never use 3 digit local on a MICS, because of this sort of problem. I always recommend a minimum of 4 digit locals.

Or you can number them on startup from 221 (default) and change the DN as needed, you don't end up having to find the 9's 8's or 7's if you need them for routing tables. etc.

OK, I did a startup and and used 401 as my beginning DN, as a result the Hunt Group numbers start with 919. If I renumber H Grp (to say 601), does that just put 919 to the port that 601? Any way to delete number, and assign if and when needed?

If 601 is not anywhere in the system then yes that would free up 919 by changing it. As long as the number is aomewhere in the system if you make a change it will just swap ports.

You should use 399 and move downward sequentially.
