Hi Everyone,

I've been tasked with setting up 2 of these printers within one of our food locations (Kitchen print class, soup / sandwiches print class). I've been reading everything I can find on setting these up (Mostly threads for IDN connections and tethering off of the receipt printers and we have one at another location and it works great but it was set up by the previous technician who didn't leave notes and these need to be networked) and I can't figure out what I'm missing. Cbord won't help because this was an Oracle purchase.

I copied/mirrored, the other locations settings. Created a print class for these kitchen food items and moved them all to it. The print class is set to print to an ordering device that I also created for this location. In the print class, at this point, Print On has Customer receipt, Local Order receipt, Journal, Report and Check checked because that's what the other location had for their remote printer. The Order Device has a header and a Device selected that I created. The Redirection Device is pointing to this same Order Device.

The device I created is set as a Roll Printer and currently points to the Micros server as it's network node. (I tried using one of this location's workstation 6 units here. I tried created a network node specifically for this printer with the IP address set in it.) Within Printer Definition, it's set as a TCP/IP Interface Epson TM-200 roll (No Epson TM-U220B's in the drop down for TCP/IP setups. Maybe that's my issue?) with the IP address set in the interface and Port 9100 (Because that's what our other mobile printers have that the previous technician setup, and they work.)

The 2 workstation 6 units have this order device selected within the User Workstation's Order Devices tab. I've reloaded the DB, removed / recreated the MDSPrinters / Host file. Restarted the WS6 units after each change for testing. At most I've received a Print Job Rejected error and then the receipts bounced back and forth between register printers (local backups) but nothing comes out of the networked Epson printer. I can print to this printer if I add it to my computer as a standard printer, so it's working in some capacity. Haven't ReCAL'd anything yet. Haven't restarted the server yet. My network team says they can see the printer online and didn't see anything being blocked. Printers are in the same vlan as workstations and server. I haven't taken off the network interface card at this point, but I guess there could be dip switches back there somewhere? I know those are a big deal on the IDN side... Or maybe this is another time where I need some magic PMS file?

If anybody understood all that, any ideas where I'm going wrong? Things I could check? Or a proper guide to setting these up? I have pictures of this mess if needed. Thank you!

Dips could be the problem, Here's the settings for Epson printers.

DS2 - all off

TM88 IDN

DS2 - 7 on

TM88 IP

You may also want to look in "Manager Procedures" "Printers" There are times when installing a new printer the system defaults to "disabled" In Managers Procedures ensure the printer you are working with is enabled and also not redirected.

Thank you for the replies!

This whole experience has blown my mind. When I was saying dipswitch, I meant more of those on the back of the units. Which I've only seen on our printers with IDN connections. The back of this TM-U220B has an E03 card. No dipswitches.

I pulled this up after the replies. Page 57 specifically. Dipswitch cover? "What could that mean!?" ...I thought to myself this morning.

What a day... This old TM88II has a secret compartment on the bottom!

So, I grabbed the TM-U220B out of the kitchen and here's what I found.

I also checked under Manager Procedures and the unit IS redirecting to... itself? I might be misunderstanding. It shouldn't be doing this? The other 7 in the list were pointing to themselves as well. #4 is the unit that I based my settings off of (With the IDN Tethered off the receipt printer setup), 1 KDS that's functional (Not sure why it shows up as a redirected printer but that's an issue for another day) and the rest I don't think even exist anymore, so they're probably bad examples.

Should this not be pointing to itself? Or I guess, should I be pointing it to somewhere else (another device?) or somehow disabling redirection altogether on it?

I'm going to change the dipswitches as recommended above and test that out this afternoon after lunch rush is over. Thank you both again for the replies!

According to the tool tip in POS Config/Devices/Order Devices you set the redirect to the same order device to disable the redirect.

It was the dip switches. I set them as suggested by Colin518.

TM220 IP
DS1 - 2 & 8 on
DS2 - 1, 2 & 4 on

After rebooting the WS6, orders started coming out in the kitchen. It's definitely slower than our receipt printers but it's saving everyone a walk, so they're happy. One headache gone!

Wish I had posted here first when this all started a few weeks back. Thank you all again! Amazing work!

Here are the settings I had in place for this setup. So close... but so far. Now I get to set up the second unit!

Who knew (Well, you all knew) that 16 little switches could make or break me. Also, if any of these switches change the size of the font or darkness of the printouts, please let me know. Our regular printers are darker from what I'm being told.

Thanks again!
