I moved a Partner System Processor R4.1 with a Partner Mail Messaging System (Stand alone) The message lite will not light when a voice message drops into an Extensions voice mail box. This happens to all Extensions. I tested all of the Message LED's and they all work fine. Any ideas?

The system uses the 4th port for lighting and extinguishing the MW lights (and also the outcalling) - double check the connection to this port, and make sure the extension is programmed into Hunt Group 7 in the Partner. You could also use a T-Adapter to put a butt set on this extension, and monitor its activity.

Thank you Touch Tone Tommy.

The Voice Mail system has two cards Ports 1 & 2 and Ports 3 & 4. I think I used only ports 1 & 2 before. It is a small business no more that ten extensions.

Are you saying that I need to run all four ports to four extensions? Can I split the ports up i.e. Ports 1 and 4.

Yup, you can split them up, but be sure to use port 4. You could just use 3 and 4.

If their are four ports and I use only two will that slow down the response time to reach the voice mail system?

It is okay to use only two out of the four ports?

Yes, it is OK to use less than all the ports. Assuming that you have the same number of extensions programmed into Hunt Group 7, and they are all working and connected to the Voice Mail.

What it does impact, is the number of simultaneous calls handled by the voice mail. If you've only got two ports, and one person is checking messages, and another is leaving a message, no one else can get it to be answered by the Auto Attendant, leave a message, check messages, etc.

So, unless you have run out of extension ports on the Partner system, connect as many VM ports as you can, remembering to ALWAYS use the last port as one of them.

It worked wonders using Port #4.

Thank you!
