Hi, It's my first post here so.. Hello! :)

This question might be stupid.. If so, sorry! :)

Is it possible to make few backups on one tape? I mean.. If I'm backing up just system state, every day, on LTO1 tape, I'm wondering, do I have to switch these tapes every day..

Regards
T

You can set the job up to append but I believe you must be using GFS rotation. Even at that, it is limited to incremental/differential backups. Full backups start new tapes. Check the Arcserve help for more detailed info.

Yes you can get it to append to the same media. just select append to media.

options--append to media, I also set it to write to same media name or blank media incase it the original tape runs out of space.

However.. this is possible. Thank you, now I know that I can continue my research with Arcserve :)

If that is what you want then use a Custom job, Rotation and Rotation with GFS use a media pool which can restrict the ability to do what you want.

However the wisdom in the rotation jobs is in having multiple copies of the data.
