Hello all,
I just got a new EPSON scanner for my graphic arts department which is not network compatable. But it needs to be shared by two machines, both of which have USB 2.0 or Firewire ports on them.

Is there a manual switch that could be placed between the two computers that could be flipped based on which computer needed the scanner? Like the old printer switches from back in the day.

Thanks

I have never seen a USB switch, but you might be able to get away with a KVM switch. Mine has usb ports on it, and as long as you get one that is self-powered you could probably use it that way. Iogear is the brand I have, and it allows me to switch monitor, keyboard, mouse, and my usb cd burner, and printer between my mac and pc by just pushing one button.

Nice! Just found out that the scanner is indeed network capable... Epson, who I called to ask about the scanner, told me it wasn't. Go figure. I just have to buy a little card and it takes care of the rest for me. Gotta love it, eh?
