I am using VMware Worstation 4.X.
I guess I choose the defaults settings and the 4 GB has run out. Is there a way I can increase the VMware environment to say 8GB? I do have the harddisk space on my workstation.

Thanks
Matt

what do you mean with the "8GB environment"? the virtual disk?

I don't know workstation, but in ESX you use the vmkfstools command in order to extend the virtual disk:

vmkfstools -X 8000M virtual_disk.dsk

ahh.. I found it in the FManual:

vmware-vdiskmanager -x 8GB myDisk.vmdk

THanks, is this just run from a command prompt?

And is the myDisk.vmdk just a variable where I insert the .vmdk name that I have?

Thanks I really appreciate your help.
Matt

yes, command prompt. issue the command where the virtual disk is located.

no, myDisk.vmdk is the file which is the virtual disk itself.

It did not work, did I need to install the disk manager or something? I am not sure it was done when I installed Vmware.

From:
These features and the ability to use scripting to automate management of virtual disks were added to VMware Workstation in version 4.5.2.

vmware-vdiskmanager is a command, so it should have the vmware-vdiskmanager.exe somwhere (may be in program files\vmware\vmware workstation

find it, and modify your PATH env,

This is strange. I do not even have mydisk.vmdk. I did a search on my HD and it does not exist....

I think I have to start from scratch.

Matt

myDisk.vmdk is just an example. Take a llok to the virtual machine configuration and search for the file name pointed out by the virtual machine configuration.
